Durability: A patented fastening technology between the heat-treated alloy steel handle(the strongest used in the industry) and the solid steel core(dumbbell weight head) makes UMAX solid urethane dumbbells maintenance-free against loosening up. Specially formulated cast polyurethane(CPU) is specially bonded to solid steel cores ensuring at least 6 years protection in heavy usage environments. Extra urethane is used on the front edge of the dumbbells where they receive the most impact. More urethane at this critical point helps absorb the stress of impact that occurs in heavy use environments. High strength steel handles offer a 6 year warranty against structural breakage. 4140 heat treated alloy steel handles are used on dumbbells and heavier. 5140 heat treated alloy steel handles are used on dumbbells 70 lbs. and lighter. Function: Handle thickness is limited to 1-1/4” (32mm) to ensure a solid, secure and comfortable grip. High quality alloy steel is used to increase handle strength where other brands use an oversized diameter handle thickness around 1-3/8” (35mm) to compensate for their weaker regular carbon steel handle material.

King-Collar(patent pending) PROVIDES 3 TIMES MORE HOLDING POWER THAN A REGULAR COLLAR. It increases the holding surface by 3 times compared to most other brands' regular handles with smaller collars that "eat" into the plates or weight heads. King-Collar solves this problem.

Appearance: The urethane coating is specially formulated for use in high impact environments and is unsurpassed in the industry for appearance and durability. All logos and numbers are laser engraved then filled with colored urethane that bonds permanently to the coating and will not discolor or peel off. Hard chrome plated handles are standard. Optional urethane grip handles are no extra charge and make the dumbbells rust proof in any environment. The urethane coating on the handles carry a 6 year warranty.

• 1018 & 1045 are regular carbon steel.
• 5140 & 4140 are alloy steel.
• 1018 steel can not be heat treated due to the low carbon contents in the material.
• Welding does not bond well between two different materials, such as carbon steel and stainless steel.
• Heat treated dumbbell handle will not improve the structural strength when welded with solid dumbbell head. The heat created from the welding process will anneal the material back to soft condition and cause the weak spot.
