Nestled along the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains and recognized as "The Biggest Little City In The World", Reno Nevada was host to the 2008 100% Raw Powerlifting Federation National Championships held this past weekend at the Grand Sierra Resort hotel and casino. The drug-tested powerlifting competition was co-organized by 100% Raw Powerlifting Federation President Paul Bossi and BumperPlates.com Adam Auerbach.
For those of you who don't know what "RAW" powerlifting is all about read on. "RAW" powerlifting is all about lifting and competing unassisted with minimal or no lifting gear. The only supportive aid allowed in competition is a weightlifting belt. Knee wraps, power suits, bench shirts and wrist wraps are all banned by the current federation rules and regulations. Lifters from around the country competed in the squat, bench and deadlift posting some incredible "RAW" lifts and the meet in general went without a glitch. As a bonus and to add a little twist, a strict curl competition was held immediately after the completion of the powerlifting competition.
